4 Week Woodworking Course for Beginners

Learn the basics of furniture making while producing two beautiful solid timber pieces to take home 

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

  • Timber identification and selection

  • Timber furniture design principles

  • Safe use of woodworking machinery including, router, drop saw, thicknessor, orbital sander, panel saw and biscuit joiner

  • Safe use of hand tools

  • Basic joinery techniques including cutting rebates, jointing and clamping

  • Filling, sanding and finishing techniques

WHAT YOU WILL GET

With guidance from an expert tutor, you’ll learn the step-by- step processes required to make a beautiful stool or side table from recycled hardwood finished in hard wax oil and a custom chopping board that you can take home.

The timber required for these pieces is valued at over $80 and included in the course price.

Course Description:

WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?

Beginners or people with little or no woodworking knowledge or experience. Anyone 16 years of age or over - curiosity and enthusiasm is more important than knowledge to us!

WHEN DOES THE COURSE RUN?

Saturday and Sunday during the day, check booking tab at left for details. Note that the course runs same day and time each week depending which day you book, one class per week for 4 weeks. If you book the Monday class you attend every Monday for 4 weeks etc.

HOW MUCH?

$650 ($620 early bird price) for four sessions, including all quality recycled timbers used during classes.

WHERE ARE THE CLASSES?

CoCraft School of Making - 67 St Hellier Street, Heidelberg Heights, Victoria 3101. Parking is available in St Hellier Street out front.

WHAT IF YOU CANNOT MAKE IT TO A CLASS?

If you’re running late or cannot make it to a class, no problem, just let us know and we will catch you up so you finish your piece on time.

If you have a change of plans before classes start you can also cancel and recieve a full refund up to 7 days before the course starts.

WHAT DO YOU WEAR TO CLASSES?

Please wear covered shoes (no thongs!) and some clothes that you dont mind getting a bit dusty and dirty. If you have long hair, please tie it up for safety. We provide light snacks and water
